IOL “Modern Minds” Podcast Tackles Tough Issues and Mental Health Trends

March 06, 2023

The second episode of “Modern Minds,” the new Hartford HealthCare Institute of Living 10-part video/podcast series with nationally known mental health advocate, author and podcaster Mark Henick is now posted!

The series features Henick as he talks with a range of innovative and creative guests, all at the forefront of the mental health revolution.

“Healing Spaces” examines the subject of space as an element of healing, recovery-oriented architecture, the impact of environmental design and the need for green and blue space in both rural and urban settings for our mental health.

Modern Minds is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple and Google Podcasts, Amazon, iHeartRadio, the HHC Institute of Living 200th Anniversary webpage, as well as @markhenick on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

“This is not just your ordinary podcast,” says Javeed Sukhera, MD, chair of psychiatry at the IOL and chief of psychiatry at Hartford Hospital. “It’s an honest, hopefully hard-hitting look at many of the issues we face in the behavioral health space today. It’s also a great way to commemorate the IOL’s 200th anniversary — our teams have always been thought leaders. We are proud to showcase them through a new platform.”

Podcast series Host Mark Henick is a regular media commentator and TEDx talk presenter providing a mental health angle on a diverse range of stories, having appeared in hundreds of on camera segments, radio spots, print article and online features. His first book, So-Called Normal: A Memoir of Family, Depression and Resilience, is available worldwide from HarperCollins.

Through 2024, the IOL is celebrating its 200th anniversary with events on campus and in the community to showcase the innovative behavioral health care services offered.
